Hughenden had a very secret war. So secret that for the past sixty years, the National Trust had no idea what went on there. It wasn't until a souvenir book of photographs was handed to a volunteer steward that this extraordinary secret came to light at all.
A top secret facility codenamed 'Hillside', the house played a key role in the Allied Bomber Offensive. Using this audio tour you will hear the voices of personnel who were drafted to create almost all of the RAF bomber crews target maps during the Second World War.
This Audio Trail has been pieced together from interviews originally recorded onto cassette tape during 2005.
