08 October 2008
A simple but informative audio trail written by Yorkshire Dales
National Park Authority staff and produced by Audio Trails has been
launched this week.
The trail takes you to Snaizeholme red squirrel
viewing area in the heart of the Widdale Red Squirrel Reserve which
offers excellent opportunities of spotting one of the only native
squirrel species in the country.
A map and further information in addition to the
audio trail of the 9.5 miles linear walk can be downloaded from
the Yorkshire
Dales National Park Authority website.
NEW PRODUCT - Podscrolls
26 September 2008
Your iPod isn't just restricted to playing music and audio trails.
Why not use it to its full abilities and add a podscroll?
So what is a podscroll?
Well its like a small booklet that you can download
and browse when you need it. Our first podscroll will be launced
very soon and will contain the directions and map to help guide
people around one of our new audio trails. But the possibilities
are endless - add images, events, additional audio trail information
for visitors who want to find out more.....
You can see a short example of a podscroll by
visiting our case
studies page where we have also added a new section called 'narrator'
an important consideration when developing an audio trail.
Special Offer - order an audio trail before the
end of December 2008 and get a podscroll (up to 60 pages) for just
£200 (terms and conditions apply)
New newsfeed and webpages
19 September 2008
In addition to the interactive map newsfeed that keeps you up-to-date
with new additions to the map (e.g. locations of new audio trails),
we have now launched a general RSS
feed that will inform you off all our latest news.
New on the website in the last week is our 'Case
Studies' page where you can hear short samples of some of the
audio styles that we offer, plus some of the other services available.
We will be adding and refreshing this page on an ongoing basis.

Trail launched
12 September 2008
Delve into the minds of residents past and present during this short,
but fascinating audio trail around Ashover Village in Derbyshire.
You will hear the stories of eight people whose memories of the
village stretch right back to the very early years of the 20th century
when things were very different.
The audio trail can be downloaded from North East
Derbyshire District Council's 'Your
Space' website.
Mam Tor Audio Trail goes live
25 August 2008
During the summer Audio Trails have been working with 'Peak Experience',
a Peak District National Park Authority project to develop two audio
trails for the National Trusts 'Mam Tor' property, near Castleton,
Derbyshire.
Each of the two tours has been developed with
different audiences in mind, one for adults and one for children,
but both help visitors to understand more about the unique history
of the area, which is also known as the ‘shivering mountain’.
High Peak Estate Manager, Mike Innerdale, said:
“This is a great way for people to find out more information
about Mam Tor. The guides have been created using characters to
introduce key parts of the landscape and how this has helped shape
the scenery people can enjoy today.”
Both can be downloaded from the National Trust
website.
