Ham Hill audio trails

This month South Somerset District Council have launched two new audio guides for Ham Hill Country Park. They have been created to help visitors visualise what the site was like in the Iron Age and contain information about the site's history, wildlife and geology.

Grace Hall, education and access officer for South Somerset District Council, who commissioned Audio Trails to produce the guides said: "It is hoped these guides will make the site more accessible and enjoyable for people with sight difficulties. Lots of archaeology has taken in what we call the plateau field and in summer it is beautiful because it's full of wildflowers and insects.

"But under the ground is where a Roman villa was excavated, so loads of different artefacts have been found there like brooches, roman armour and hoards of coins, but to look at it, you really wouldn't know it was there."
