About Audio Trails
Creative Director Dan Boys has over 10 years countryside and project management experience since graduating from University in Bristol with a degree in Geography and Environmental Management, firstly working as a Warden for the National Trust before moving to Derbyshire. It was whilst working for the Peak District National Park Authority that Dan devised and produced the first ever downloadable MP3 audio guides for countryside sites in the UK (www.moorsforthefuture.org.uk). Following the success of these five pilot trails, he went on to develop a further eight 'audio tours of the moors' which were recognised in the 'Council for the Protection of Rural England's - Countryside Awards' in 2006.
Dan established 'Audio Trails' that same year and has produced a wide variety of digital interpretation for heritage sites across the country. His innovative Paws on the Moors project has won a number of awards including the prestigious Association of Heritage Interpretation 'Interpret Britain and Ireland Award' in 2007 and the Kennel Club's 'Dog Recognition Award' in 2008.
During his time working for the Peak District Interpretation Partnership he oversaw the development of the My Peak Experience website and the 'Naturebytes' project for Natural England - 5 self-powered bluetooth units installed in rural locations (Lathkill Dale) providing free wildlife guides to mobile phone users - the first of its kind in the country.
With an eye for a gadget and a strong passion for Britain's heritage, Dan's blend of skills and experience has a proven track record in delivering innovative interpretation in a wide variety of locations
