Following hot on the heels of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, Audio Trails have secured another innovative project in a National Park setting - this time in the Brecon Beacons.

The Brecon Beacons National Park Authority have appointed Audio Trails to produce three bilingual audio trails which will start at the recently refurbished Waterfalls visitor centre in Pontneddfechan.

Two of the trails will be designed for adults whilst the third will be aimed at 7-11 year olds. The audio trails are set to launch in spring 2009.

Bluetooth project in Yorkshire Dales

Audio Trails have been awarded a contract by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority to deliver an innovative project using bluetooth to deliver messages to visitors mobile phones.
The free service will send local information to phone users visiting the National Park visitor centre at Grassington from Spring 2009.
Bluetooth is the wireless equivalent of a USB lead (which is used to connect digital cameras etc to computers) and with 90% of new phones fitted with this technology most visitors are already walking around with all the equipment they need in their pockets already.

Posters at the visitor centre will promote the service and provide simple instructions on how to download the 'mini website', for free.

Over the coming months we will keep you updated on developments

Mam Tor Audio Trail goes live.

During the summer Audio Trails have been working with 'Peak Experience', a Peak District National Park Authority project to develop two audio trails for the National Trusts 'Mam Tor' property, near Castleton, Derbyshire.

Each of the two tours has been developed with different audiences in mind, one for adults and one for children, but both help visitors to understand more about the unique history of the area, which is also known as the ‘shivering mountain’.

High Peak Estate Manager, Mike Innerdale, said: “This is a great way for people to find out more information about Mam Tor. The guides have been created using characters to introduce key parts of the landscape and how this has helped shape the scenery people can enjoy today.”

Both can be downloaded from the National Trust website
